Hello [Friend's Name] –
I'm excited to share a new way for healthcare professionals like ourselves to engage in addressing obesity. The "Take 5" Challenge, created by the founding partners of National Obesity Care Week, encourages everyone to take five minutes to learn more about obesity in order to have more productive conversations about this serious disease. "Take 5" provides resources to address obesity including key reasons to discuss weight, starter questions to engage in productive patient conversations, and ICD-10 codes and referral options for obesity specialists.
As an obesity specialist, I know the importance of having these tools every day in my practice. That's why I wanted to share this exciting initiative with you.
During this year's National Obesity Care Week, I chose to take the challenge and share this initiative with 5 of my colleagues in an effort to spread awareness of the need for comprehensive conversations about obesity.
In return, I challenge you to take the following steps and pass them on to five of your colleagues:
- Take 5 minutes to learn how to talk about obesity with your patients
- Ask 5 questions to start a conversation
- Know 5 reasons to address obesity
- Engage in 5 conversations to inspire action
"Take 5" is one of the many ways you can participate in National Obesity Care Week, the only national awareness effort dedicated to ensuring anyone affected by obesity receives respectful and comprehensive care, is taking place this week, Oct. 30 – Nov. 5.
If you want to learn more about how you can participate in National Obesity Care Week, please visit www.obesitycareweek.org or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
I hope that you will choose to "Take 5" for obesity. Breaking the cycles of silence, miscommunication and bias surrounding the disease of obesity requires the help of everyone committed to the fight for proactive patient care.
All the best,
